Our History

Partnering to build a world where quality home care is accessible to all.

Founded in Kampala Uganda in 2015 by Mr Barnabas Nkore, HOCA-Africa is dedicated to transforming home-based care across the continent. We empower caregivers, home care providers, and communities by advocating for professional standards, influencing policies, and fostering collaboration with key stakeholders.

Through comprehensive training programs, strategic policy influence, cutting-edge technology, and innovative care solutions, we ensure that home care services are not only accessible but also of the highest quality, culturally inclusive, and sustainable. Our mission is to create a future where every individual, regardless of their circumstances, can receive compassionate, reliable, and dignified care in the comfort of their own home.

Our Approach

Why Is Hoca Important?

Africa’s elderly population is projected to triple from 74 million in 2020 to 235 million by 2050. Despite this growth home care services remain underdeveloped, leaving millions of elderly individuals without access to professional care.

HOCA is commited to solve the Urgent problems in elderly care by addressing the following  Key Issues:

  • Limited Caregiver Training & Accreditation: Few structured programs for professional home caregivers.
  • Weak Policies & Regulatory Frameworks: Governments lack comprehensive home care laws.
  • Cultural Resistance to Outsourcing Elderly Care: Families struggle with balancing work-life-care responsibilities.
  • High Costs & Financial Inaccessibility: The elderly, especially in rural areas, lack affordable care options.
